2014 is the year Darcy Fox leapt ahead as a music performer

Moe singer Darcy Fox is about to release her second CD after spending the last few months recording and mixing.

It has been a huge year for the 21 year old. She won the FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands grand final at Birrarung Marr during Moomba, after winning last year’s Latrobe Valley heat.

Then in July she embarked on her first tour in the company of two singer-songwriters, Imogen Clark of Sydney and Paige Renee Court of Adelaide. They did shows in those two cities as well as Melbourne.

And now comes Darcy’s CD launch, 3pm this Sunday at the Push Pop Up Shop, 234 High Street, Northcote.

It’s called My Own Happy Ending and it displays Darcy’s musical talent and prowess with a loop pedal. In fact she seems to master looping better than describing her music genre.

“It’s really tricky. I say it’s like acoustic, folk, country, pop… I keep adding all these genres to it because I can’t pin it down.

“Because it’s acoustic and I use my loop station, I call it ‘acloopstic’!

“The CD has six original songs. There’s songs I performed at Battle of the Bands and a couple of others, all written in the last year and a half, so they’re all kind of newish ones.”

For Gippslanders who can’t make it to Northcote for the launch, Darcy will perform at Monkey Biz Cafe, Newborough next Saturday, 25 October.

Also ahead, she’ll be touring New Zealand’s major cities with Paige Renee Court in November.

2014 has been a big year for Darcy but there’s no doubt even greater things are ahead for this amazingly talented young Gippslander.
